The Gridspy solution requires at least one GridHub in each building that you wish to monitor. The GridHub comes complete and ready to monitor 3 AC channels. It connects to the network in your building to upload acquired sensor data. You can then view your data on your GridSpy dashboard (example dashboard).

Each sensor is a split-core current transformer which plugs into the GridHub and clips onto a mains cable. These are easy to install and do not require cutting, changing or stripping wiring. The ideal place to locate your sensors is in your building's breaker box, giving you access to many different subsystems in the one location. If a device has its own circuit breaker, you can measure it individually. You do not need a smart meter to use Gridspy devices, in fact you don't need access to a meter at all! 

Each building will require a GridHub and the GridHub requires an ethernet connection to the internet. On most networks the GridHub will auto-discover your network settings using DHCP and begin uploading your data the moment it is plugged in. The GridHub will then begin uploading sensor data to your dashboard. All you have left to do is to log in to your dashboard to name your sensors. If you have difficulty at any step, our staff will happily help you over the phone. You always have direct access to our top engineers when you call or email us.

Our sensors are designed to collect your data while absolutely minimising their impact on your power usage with each GridHub drawing less than 1 Watt. The Gridspy Dashboard runs from our servers giving you responsive and deep data analysis without a matching power bill. If you generate your own power you will be pleased to know that we have minimum impact on your system and can tell you how efficient your power generation is. We do not rely on continous AC power or internet connections and will store your power usage data in the Nexus until you decide to switch your internet connection on.
